Ramp Length & Load Height

It is crucial for you to know your load height to identify which ramp length you require. The load height is the vertical measurement from the ground to where you rest the ramp onto.

Manual Wheelchairs:
Minimum recommended gradient: 1:6
Example: for a 1ft load height you'll need a 6ft long ramp.

Mobility Scooters:
Minimum recommended gradient: 1:8 (Ramp needs to be longer due to the low ground clearance)
Example: for a 1ft load height you'll need an 8ft long ramp.

How long should the ramp be?

For plant ramps Health & Safety we recommend that no gradient greater than 30% (16.5 degrees) should be used. Furthermore, no TUV Certified Ramp is designed to exceed this gradient. To calculate your gradient simply measure the height from ground level to the loading deck & multiply this by 3.3 to give the optimum length of ramp.

Should I allow extra capacity in the ramps for safety?

No. Our Container Ramps are manufacturer and engineered to European TUV standards, which require us to build in a 200% safety. When calculating which capacity you require you must factor in the weight of the machine, the load if any, the operator, fuel/oil and attachments. Please note if you exceed the stated capacity the warranty is invalidated.

How durable are Aluminium Ramps compared to steel?

If the ramps are used sensibly, there is no reason why aluminium ramps should not last as long as steel, and much longer than steel ramps with wooden inserts.

Do the ramps have a minimum load height?

Yes, please check specs of each ramp.

What is the benefit of the Rubber Container Ramp? 

The Rubber Container Ramp has a capacity of 10,000kg and is provided in modular pieces to allow this to easily put in place and removed by one person. 

Why do these need to be used at a specific load height?

The foot of the ramp is cut for the specific load height, when used at the incorrect load height the weight will not be able to take the required weight and the warranty will be void. 

What is the benefit of a Wedge Ramp?

These can be customised to match your required height. They are perfect for loading pallet trucks to heights up to 120mm and can hold capacities up to 2920kg.

Can the aluminium container ramps be customised?

Yes, our aluminium ramps can be customised in terms of width, length, connection and capacity to meet your requirements. 

Can you use all kind of pallet trucks or forklifts on the container ramps?

No. Most pallet trucks and forklifts are not built to be used on slopes or at an incline. Therefore you can use only the smoothest gradient. Please check the manual of the manufacturer for the gradient information.

Our cut off times for same-day dispatch* is 2 pm Monday-Friday (Excluding Bank Holidays)

• Under 30kg - 10€
• 30.1kg – 100kg - 50€
• Over 100kg - 115€

Delivery charges are calculated for you based on the weight of your order at the checkout

We offer 4-10 business day delivery delivery for 'in-stock' items throughout Ireland. Please note delivery timelines may vary as we use third-party couriers to deliver our products. All products are shipped under DAP Incoterms. This means we do not charge VAT but Irish import VAT of 23% (on all products) and Import duty and any customs charges (on some products ) and customs charges will be due. These fees will need to be paid to the courier before or after you receive the goods. Where payment is required prior to delivery, the sooner any customs/VAT charges are paid to the courier/customs the quicker you will receive your goods. Please look out for emails or calls from the courier regarding these fees otherwise your goods may be returned to us.

Order information

If you are ordering on behalf of a company, please provide your VAT IE and EORI number to us as soon as possible to prevent delays in dispatching your order, the couriers require us to provide this prior to the dispatch of goods. If items are being sent on a pallet, we will also require you to complete a POA prior to dispatch. 

If you have purchased a loading ramp, prior to use please make sure to check the maximum load height as stated on the invoice, read the safety instructions on the side of the ramp closely, and follow the instructions supplied with the product.  Failure to comply with product instructions will invalidate your warranty and could cause an accident, injury or death so please take this seriously.

Our shipping terms for all customers are INCO Terms DAP unless explicitly specified.

Products are shipped from our UK Warehouse to Ireland on DDP Incoterms. The price displayed is the total price, with the shipping fee calculated at the checkout. There is no additional import, duty or customs charges.

What is DDP Incoterms?

DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is an international shipping term where the seller (The Ramp People) takes full responsibility for delivering the goods to the buyer's location, including all shipping costs, import duties, and taxes. This means the buyer receives the goods fully cleared through customs without any additional charges upon delivery.

• Under 25kg - €15
• 25.1kg – 100kg - €65
• Over 100kg - €125

We've made things easier for you...Irish VAT of 23% is now charged by us and paid at the point of purchase. We understand that in some instances, customers will need to return an item due to a change in circumstances, incorrect sizing or simply changing their mind. Here at The Ramp People we offer a 60 day money back guarantee on all purchases; however, there will be circumstances where a return is not possible. So as to remain transparent with our customers, we have detailed our returns policy below to answer any queries you may have about the process.

Here are the most common circumstances for returns and how we can help;

Change of mind, wrong size or unsuitable item

Sometimes an item is not what you imagined, it doesn’t fit or you just don’t need it any more. In these circumstances, we are happy to offer an exchange or a full refund, no quibble of course, if the item is returned in its original condition, including original packaging, and within 60 days from date of receipt. Please note, items which are advertised as 'built to order', or customised items are non-returnable and non-refundable.

Please take care when returning an order to us as all customers are in charge of the item’s return and covering the cost. We recommend you use a tracked, insured returns method so as to ensure a secure transit.

For an exchanged item, please make a note on the returns form that you wish to exchange the product or call us on +353 1 695 0520. We can deliver new items within our standard delivery policy. Unwanted items should be sent back to our address marked 'Returns Department'.

Item incorrect or damaged on arrival

Upon delivery, please do not sign for the goods unless you are happy with the condition of the product.

We pride ourselves on our excellent customer care and service delivery, however, if an unfortunate incident occurs where you believe you have been sent the wrong item please call us immediately on #353 1 695 0520.

For damaged items, please supply proof of damage with a photo and email it across to our customer support team at hello@theramppeople.co.uk. For any incorrect deliveries, we will always check the part numbers on your order due to using different names for marketing and warehouse storage – we can then arrange for the correct item to be delivered whilst the unwanted item is collected and brought back to us.

A refund or replacement can only be processed once we have received all unwanted items and confirmed any damage.

Faulty items

In the unlikely event of an item becoming faulty, please view our guarantee policies in our terms and conditions.

If your item is within our warranty, we will be able to collect it to either repair or replace, however this can only be done once we have confirmed the fault. If you urgently need the item returned, we advise placing a new order and await the refund for the faulty item.

Items that cannot be cancelled or returned

Under Consumer Contract Regulations, customers have the right to cancel any order for any item bought through The Ramp People on this website including a full refund. Unfortunately, these regulations do not apply to the following circumstances;

• Items that are collected from our premises.
• Items with a product description stating: "Built to order or customised."
• Products that are personalised or made to a customer specification.
• Sealed goods that come with health protection or hygiene regulations that have been un-sealed after delivery.
• Returning any products that present a hygiene risk after being used by the recipient.

What happens next?

Customers are responsible for any returned goods until they reach our warehouse as stated in this returns policy. None of these terms or conditions affect your statutory legal rights.

Once the item is returned back to our warehouse, please allow 1-2 working days for the items to be checked. Once the items have been checked and the condition is as agreed, a credit note will be emailed across to you. Please note, once the credit note has been provided refunds take up to 7 days.
