Product Questions

I am interested in purchasing a pallet truck, what should I check prior to purchase?
When choosing a pallet truck, it is important to consider the maximum load weight and the type of pallets you need to move, such as UK or Euro pallets. You should also consider where the pallet truck will be used to help determine the most suitable wheel type for the environment and floor surface. If you operate in confined areas or narrow aisles, checking the overall width of the pallet truck is also recommended to ensure safe and efficient manoeuvrability.
Which pallet truck wheels are best?
The best wheel type depends on where the pallet truck is being used. For regular use in industrial settings, and for moving heavier loads, nylon wheels are generally preferable. For customer-facing areas, PU and rubber wheels are usually recommended as they are quieter. PU wheels are also recommended for laminate flooring and similar surfaces, as they are less likely to damage the floor.
Are the manual pallet trucks covered under LOLER and PUWER regulations?
LOLER only applies to pump trucks if the pump trucks' forks raise above 300mm. As the forks do not raise above 300mm, only the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) apply. Pallet Trucks are also of course covered by Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 and the Management of Health and safety at Work Regulations 1999.
Are The Ramp People's pallet trucks suitable for Euro and UK pallets?
Yes, the overall fork width is 550mm and the fork length is 1150mm making them suitable for lifting both Euro and UK pallets.
What is the difference between pallet trucks with single wheels or tandem wheels?
Manual pallet trucks can have single rollers or tandem rollers. Single rollers are generally best suited when carrying lighter loads. The People People's pallet trucks have tandem rollers, meaning they have two wheels located at the end of each fork. Tandem rollers assist in distributing weight more evenly, in turn providing a smoother experience and placing less pressure on the ground beneath.

Pallet trucks, also known as pump trucks or pallet jacks, are essential handling equipment used to safely and efficiently lift and transport pallets while reducing the need for manual handling. Hand operated pallet trucks are widely used in warehouses to move pallets to loading bays, in shops and supermarkets to transport goods from storage areas to the shop floor, and on construction sites and in builders’ yards to move heavy building materials and supplies.
