What is a modular ramp?

Modular wheelchair ramps are ramp systems which are provided in various pieces which connect together to create the required ramp length. These ramps can be provided with or without handrails. They can be created in any length for a variety of heights. Generally the recommended gradient for a modular ramp is 1:12.

What size door is required for wheelchair access?

It does depend on the size of the wheelchair. Our modular kits are provided in various widths between 900mm -1500mm whilst our portable ramps are provided in sizes from 660mm upwards.

Can modular ramps be customised?

Yes. The ramps can be provided in any length. The ramps can include platform(s) as required along with step kits and U-shaped handrails to meet the users needs. Our team will be happy to assist in providing a quote based on your requirements.

How easy is it to assemble a modular kit?

A confident DIYer or builder will be able to put together our modular kits. We have an instruction video and guide available here.

What measurements do I need to work out which kit I require?

Initially our team will need photos and measurements of the area to assist which can be sent to us via email. This include the height of the drop, width of the door opening and dimensions of any steps. A simple guide to working out what measurements you need for the threshold connection can be found here.

How much does a modular wheelchair ramp cost?

This does depend on your requirements, our modular ramps start at around €2,500.00 + VAT.

What is the modular ramps made from?

Our modular wheelchair ramps are produced from anodised aluminium or galvanised steel. This ensures the ramps do not rust.

Are wheelchair ramps required?

In private homes it is up to the individual as to whether they have wheelchair ramp access. The Disability Discrimination Act (1195) states businesses must make reasonable adaptions to provide access to disabled users.

Do the ramps comply with Part M and Part K building regulations?

Our modular ramp kits are designed as portable, temporary solutions and therefore do not need to comply. If you do require a compliant system please let us know so we can provide a specification for you.

How long does it take to put the modular kit together?

It does depend on the persons abilities who is putting the ramp together and the length/size of the system purchased. Please view our modular video and instruction guide for a better understanding of how the systems are put together to allow you to estimate how long it may take you.

I want a ramp which I can leave in place but I do not want a modular system, is there a solution?

Yes. We have a portable wheelchair ramp with handrails (handrails are optional) which can be secured into place as there is a predrilled hole in the ramp. They can also be used as portable ramps by simply resting these on the step. They are available in 6ft - 10ft and are suitable for manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs and scooters.

I require steps and a ramp, is this possible?

Yes, we have various step kit available, for further advice please contact our team so they can work with you to find the best solution based on your requirements.

Do I qualify for VAT exemption?

As wheelchair ramps are mobility aids they can qualify for VAT relief if you are an individual with a disability. Please view our blog to learn about reclaiming VAT on disabled access ramps.

We want you to receive your goods on a timely basis and in pristine condition. Please help us accomplish this by checking the delivery address carefully as noted on the invoice and notifying us immediately if there is an error. Upon delivery, please do not sign for the goods unless you are happy with the condition of the product.

Order information

If you are ordering on behalf of a company, please provide your VAT IE and EORI number to us as soon as possible to prevent delays in dispatching your order, the couriers require us to provide this prior to the dispatch of goods. If items are being sent on a pallet, we will also require you to complete a POA prior to dispatch.

If you have purchased a loading ramp, prior to use please make sure to check the maximum load height as stated on the invoice, read the safety instructions on the side of the ramp closely, and follow the instructions supplied with the product. Failure to comply with product instructions will invalidate your warranty and could cause an accident, injury or death so please take this seriously.

Our shipping terms for all customers are INCO Terms DAP unless explicitly specified.

DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is an international shipping term where the seller (The Ramp People) takes full responsibility for delivering the goods to the buyer's location, including all shipping costs, import duties, and taxes. We understand that in some instances, customers will need to return an item due to a change in circumstances, incorrect sizing or simply changing their mind. Here at The Ramp People we offer a 30 day money back guarantee on all purchases; however, there will be circumstances where a return is not possible. So as to remain transparent with our customers, we have detailed our returns policy below to answer any queries you may have about the process.

Here are the most common circumstances for returns and how we can help;

Change of mind, wrong size or unsuitable item

Sometimes an item is not what you imagined, it doesn’t fit or you just don’t need it any more. In these circumstances, we are happy to offer an exchange or a full refund, no quibble of course, if the item is returned in its original condition, including original packaging, and within 30 days from date of receipt. Please note, items which are advertised as 'built to order', or customised items are non-returnable and non-refundable.

Please take care when returning an order to us as all customers are in charge of the item’s return and covering the cost. We recommend you use a tracked, insured returns method so as to ensure a secure transit.

For an exchanged item, please make a note on the returns form that you wish to exchange the product or call us on +353 1 695 0520. We can deliver new items within our standard delivery policy. Unwanted items should be sent back to our address marked 'Returns Department'.

Item incorrect or damaged on arrival

Upon delivery, please do not sign for the goods unless you are happy with the condition of the product.

We pride ourselves on our excellent customer care and service delivery, however, if an unfortunate incident occurs where you believe you have been sent the wrong item please call us immediately on #353 1 695 0520.

For damaged items, please supply proof of damage with a photo and email it across to our customer support team at hello@theramppeople.co.uk. For any incorrect deliveries, we will always check the part numbers on your order due to using different names for marketing and warehouse storage – we can then arrange for the correct item to be delivered whilst the unwanted item is collected and brought back to us.

A refund or replacement can only be processed once we have received all unwanted items and confirmed any damage.

Faulty items

In the unlikely event of an item becoming faulty, please view our guarantee policies in our terms and conditions.

If your item is within our warranty, we will be able to collect it to either repair or replace, however this can only be done once we have confirmed the fault. If you urgently need the item returned, we advise placing a new order and await the refund for the faulty item.

Items that cannot be cancelled or returned

Under Consumer Contract Regulations, customers have the right to cancel any order for any item bought through The Ramp People on this website including a full refund. Unfortunately, these regulations do not apply to the following circumstances;

Items that are collected from our premises.
Items with a product description stating: "Built to order or customised."
Products that are personalised or made to a customer specification.
Sealed goods that come with health protection or hygiene regulations that have been un-sealed after delivery.
Returning any products that present a hygiene risk after being used by the recipient.

What happens next?

Customers are responsible for any returned goods until they reach our warehouse as stated in this returns policy. None of these terms or conditions affect your statutory legal rights.

Once the item is returned back to our warehouse, please allow 1-2 working days for the items to be checked. Once the items have been checked and the condition is as agreed, a credit note will be emailed across to you. Please note, once the credit note has been provided refunds take up to 14 days.
