The Ramp People offer a range of Truck Ramps and Van Ramps, our recommendations regarding load height is in line with EU vehicle ramp guidelines which recommend that no loading ramp should have a gradient steeper than 30% or 1:3.3.
What to know before buy a van ramp?
- Load height - This is the overall vertical height from ground up to bed of the vehicle where the ramp will rest
- Fixed or portable ramp?
- Short description of what you will be loading
- Ramp width requirement or preference?
- Do you require 1 wide ramp or 2 single ramps (channel ramps)
- What is the door width of the van? or the truck? this is the door where the ramp will be used
- Capacity, what is the maximum weight you plan to load?
Also important:
You will also need to take into consideration if you have a tow bar, large bumper etc. on the back of the vehicle which could affect the ramp – you may require a higher capacity or a smoother angle to safely pass over the tow bar or bumper.
Does the item you are loading have low ground clearance? If your item has low ground clearance, for example pallet trucks, you may require a custom cut ramp to provide a smoother angle on the ramp.
Most require a rest on connection, which is the standard connection provided on our van ramps. If you have a beaver tail trailer you may require a hook connection please see our connection options please contact our team for assistance.

Why is it so important to load within the recommended load height?
Our Truck Ramps & Van Ramps are designed for loading at a maximum gradient of 30% for your safety. The foot of the ramp is cut for the specific load height, when the ramp is used at the incorrect height it will not rest securely on the ground. In turn the ramp will be unable to hold the capacity advertised and the warranty will be void. If you require a longer ramp we can customise our Viper Premium range for your requirements. Viper – Economy Heavy Duty Van Ramps
Our Viper Economy Heavy Duty Van Ramps are provided in lengths between 1800mm – 2700mm, perfect for load heights up to 815mm. The ramps are available in 2 widths, 750mm and 920mm. Capacities range from 680kg – 900kg, depending on the length and width chosen.
The ramps are designed as portable solutions, simply rest the ramp on the back of your van and start loading. They are produced from lightweight aluminium. They are not designed to be left outside. The ramps are provided with 50mm high edges to prevent items accidentally rolling off the edge of the ramps. The ramps are designed for loading flight cases, furniture, and other items in and out of the van.
The Viper Economy Cross Folding Travel Ramp is designed for load heights up to 630mm. The ramp is provided in 2 widths, 650mm and 850mm. The ramp has a capacity of 400kg and weights less than 23kg. The ramp is provided with a grab handle to allow you to easily move the ramp. With a non-slip surface, the ramp is perfect for loading items under 400kg in and out of vans.

Viper Premium Heavy Duty Van Ramp
The Premium Viper Heavy Duty Van Ramp is TUV certified and customisable. The ramp, as a standard, is provided with a rest on connection which includes a pre-drilled hole to allow you to secure the ramp to the van for extra security during loading. Alternative connection options can be viewed here
The Premium range includes lengths up to 3600mm, with width options of 750mm and 1000mm. Capacities range from 1000kg – 2000kg.
The Viper Premium has a smoother entrance onto the ramp than the economy version which is especially beneficial when loading items with low clearance such as flight cases.
The Folding Viper Premium Heavy-Duty Van Ramps are TUV certified and available in widths of 750mm and 1000mm. The ramps fold to halve their length for easy storage. The capacities range from 500kg – 1000kg, depending on the length of ramp chosen and these ramps are provided with handles for easy maneuvering
.The ramps are available in lengths up to 3000mm. As with our standard Premium Viper Ramps, the Folding Viper Premium Van Ramps are also customisable. The standard connection option is the rest on connection, alternative connection types include a hook connection. Safety edges (23mm high) and an anti-slip surface ensure safe loading in and out of the van.

Truck Ramps
Our Truck Ramp range offers the same benefits as the Viper Premium Heavy Duty Van Ramps however they provide a longer ramp solution for higher load heights suitable for load heights up to 1500mm with ramp length options up to 5m/16.4ft available.
As with the Viper Premium range, all of our Truck Ramps are TUV certified and customisable.
Our Truck Ramps are available with capacities up to 2000kg and are perfect for loading equipment into trucks. The anti-slip surface and edges on the ramp ensure you can safely load into the truck.
The standard connection is a rest on connection, which includes a pre-drilled hole to allow you to secure this to the van if you wish. The extended connection terminal bridges most bumpers and tow bars meaning no vehicle modification is required.
The foot of the ramp is cut for a specific load height so it is important to select a ramp suitable for your load height to ensure a smooth entrance onto the ramp. If you require a specific length, we can of course custom cut the ramp for your load height.

Aluminium Channel Ramps
Our Aluminium Channel Ramps are available in lengths between 1000mm – 3500mm. They are designed for loading equipment, such as wheeled garden machinery and trolleys into vans.
As 2 ramps are provided, rather than one wide ramp, this is a lighter solution than the Viper Van Ramps.
The ramps hold between 485kg – 1500kg across the pair, depending on the length you choose to purchase.
The ramps have 45mm high raised edges to prevent items rolling off the sides. Like the Premium Viper Ramps, the ramps are TUV certified and customisable. Simply rest the ramps onto the back of the van and start loading
Fixed folding Van Ramps

We offer a wide range from mesh surface ramps, non-slip surface ramps, twisty system ramps and heavy duty folding ramps at a variety of lengths and capacity weight. What to check on your van before you choose a fixed van ramp
We recommend completing the form here to identify the key measurements required when choosing a folding van ramp, alternately we will need the info below:
- Load height? overall vertical height from ground till bed of the van
- Internal height of the van and width of the door where the ramp will be placed
- Capacity required on the ramp?
- Suface type? mesh surface, standard anti-slip plate
- standard or Twisty system
- Ramp width? 800mm, 1000mm, 1200mm...
- Short description of what you will be loading
Also important, check if the item you are loading have low ground clearance, If your item has low ground clearance, for example pallet trucks, you may require a custom cut ramp to provide a smoother angle – please contact our team for advice.

Both the mesh surface and standard non-slip surface ramp are available with a ‘twisty system’ mechanism. This TRP van ramp feature is a hinge system that allows the ramp to be twisted out of the way when not being used. Yard Ramps
The Mobile Yard Ramps are a perfect solution for quickly and safely loading and unloading containers with machinery.
The ramps use a hydraulic assist to allow you to adjust the load height, allow the ramp to be used as heights between 800mm – 1650mm. At over 11m in length, the ramps provide a smooth angle to allow items with low ground clearance, including forklifts, to easily go up the ramps.
The Ramp People’s Yard Ramps are available in two widths and are provided with a capacity up to 15,000kg.
The Mobile Yard Ramps are CE certified and provided with a non-slip mesh surface. The ramp incorporates British steel to ensure you receive optimum quality, just one of the reasons why our Yard Ramps hold their financial value for such a long period of time.
The ramps can easily be maneuvered into place with a forklift, due to the swivel fork mount. Steel chains and clamps are provided for additional safety.
