What is the benefit of a half step?
A half step often makes it easier for those with limited mobility to overcome steps, doorways and entrances. The half step can assist to breaks down the height different between ground level and the door threshld into two more manageable heights.
Half steps can also help to increase the confidence of users who have previously had difficulties to overcome steps and heights. In some instances half steps are used where space is limited and therefore it is not possible to install a ramp. Please note the half step is not suitable for mobility scooters and wheelchair users so please do consider who will be using the half step.
Where can the half step be used?
The Ramp People's half steps are suitable for indoor and outdoor use and can be left outside.
Is it safe to use the half-step in wet weather?
Our half steps offer a GRP open mesh surface which is highly slip resistant and suitable to be used in all weathers. The step is also self draining. Please do of course take caution in wet or icy weathers and consider your own abilities.
What warranty is available on the half steps?
The half steps are provided with a 2 year warranty.
Should I purchase a half step or wheelchair ramp?
This does depend on your requirements, abilities and the space available. If you are unsure our team is available throughout the week to provide technical advice and guidance based on your situation.
A ramp is often preferable for businesses as it makes the business accessible to more users, including those using wheelchairs and mobility scooters. For homes, a half step may be preferred where space is limited and a ramp is not viable or for smaller height differences where you are seeking to simply make a step more manageable.
What heights can the half step be used at?
When used without legs the half step is 80mm high. When used with the support legs, the mobility half step can be adjusted to heights between 105mm - 120mm.
What is the GRP surface?
GRP stands for Glass Reinforced Plastic, it is an extremely durable but light surface. GRP is renowned for being able to withstand poor weather conditions and to last for many years. In addition GRP is corrosion-resistant.
