Easily Go Up & Over Door Thresholds, including PVC thresholds

We often get asked how a wheelchair can go up and over a threshold. Our most common answer is to simply rest a folding ramp, such as an economy folding wheelchair ramp, on the external, larger height and have a rubber threshold ramp for the inside height, which is normally a few inches. We do understand though that many want one single. For manual wheelchair users, Combination Channel Ramps offer the perfect, lightweight and portable solution. The issue is these channel ramps are not mobility scooter or electric wheelchair friendly. In addition, for those wishing to push a wheelchair up a ramp, often one single wide ramp, rather than channel ramps, is an easier solution. This is why we have brought out our Up & Over Threshold Ramp Kits.

Which length kit do I choose for my doorway?

As you would for any ramp, you first need to know the height which you are going up. You need to measure the internal and external vertical heights (load height). This will allow you to work out the ramp length required. For manual wheelchairs we recommend a 1:6 gradient, for electric wheelchairs a 1:8 gradient. Once you have this height you can then use our simple Ramp Length Calculator to identify the ramp length required. If your unsure feel free to ask our friendly team via email, web chat or over the phone for help!

How does it work? The Adjustable Threshold Ramp with Entry Plate comes in 2 main parts which you simple connect together with several fixings. The first item you need to choose is the entry plate (300mm or 600mm) length (maximum load height 100mm), this is normally designed for the inside height. The second length selection is the longest part which is available in 2ft - 8ft (designed for maximum height of 405mm) simply select the length you need. Normally this ramp will be for the external height, for example to pass over a step.

Other perks!

As seen above, the blue strap allows you to easily move the entry plate out of the way when the ramp is not in use, meaning the door can be shut without you having to move the ramp! The ramp has an anodised surface, meaning it is suitable to be left outside. The chequered plate design provides optimal grip. The ramp is provided with a 400kg capacity, suitable for manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs and scooters. You can adjust the adjustable ramp height to alternative heights and therefore use it in alternative locations, please of course pay attention to the maximum load height.

The ramp and entry plate has arrived, what now?

When the ramp arrives it will come in two parts, the entry plate and the main ramp. Firstly you will need to attach the legs to your wheelchair ramp. You will need to adjust the leg height to match your threshold height. We do have instructions online to help guide you, alternatively you can watch our video in the product description. You will then need to connect the entry plate to the main ramp, instructions for this can be viewed here.
